We'll be working with the magical Bungalow Palm inflorescences using the whole (from the neck that attaches to the trunk to the whispy ends) to create the sculptural forms.

I'll show you a series of simple but key techniques to bring tension and structure at the outset to your form.
From here it’s a rich discovery of applying tension to your weave process to create the form and shapes you’re seeking.
I'll also be walking you through the foraging and harvesting of the material and then how to prepare it for weaving for your future fibre art sculptures.
All materials will be supplied including afternoon tea.

Who's Sarah Norton Creative?

A multidisciplinary creator, Sarah Norton has been making and exhibiting for over thirty years. She is a painter, sculptor, drawer, photographer and potter. Sarah's art making focuses on the in-between spaces, the places where certainty is not on tap; the intersection of discovery and trust.

Having completed a Bachelor of Design (Hons) at UTS Sarah has pursued a creative career incompassing Interior design,

A fibre artist for the past decade, Sarah's love of working with natural fibres and learning how to 'listen' to the fibres, came from living in Tanzania for four years until 2008.

When not in her studio and leading creative workshops, Sarah is a mentor, lecturer and communications facilitator.
