SCULPTURAL WEAVING WEEKEND WORKSHOP – Learn Four Techniques in Two Days, Red Hill, Mornington Peninsula
Description
This immersive weekend basket weaving workshop introduces you to four contemporary sculptural basketry techniques, giving you the opportunity to step confidently into the world of contemporary and sculptural basketry.
Over two creative days, you’ll learn four versatile techniques and leave with finished sculptural artworks and the confidence to continue your basketry practice.
Explore random weaving with cane and sculptural inclusions, learning how to create form, tension, and structure while incorporating found and meaningful materials
Learn twining with jute, developing patterned surfaces through a rhythmic, repeatable technique that builds both strength and visual detail
Explore random weaving with long, leafy plant materials or raffia, learning how to build organic, sculptural forms
Learn looping with paper string, a rhythmic, meditative technique that creates intricate, textural surfaces
These techniques offer contrasting approaches to structure and form, opening up expressive possibilities for sculptural basketry. Its perfect for beginners or weavers who want to learn these techniques.
With a limited class size, you’ll receive hands-on guidance throughout the weekend from award-winning artist and weaver Catriona Pollard. Whether you’re new to weaving or returning to it, you’ll leave with both finished work and the confidence to continue.
