Sea Shell ID Workshop
Description
Join Ulster Wildlife at on the Holywood Seafront for a hands-on workshop exploring the wonderful world of sea shells.
We’ll begin by learning how to look closely and notice the diversity of shells on the shore, from their shapes and sizes to their colours, patterns and textures, before heading out to collect and examine finds from the shore. You’ll discover how to tell bivalves and gastropods apart, explore the key features of each group, and practice using those clues to identify shells to species level.
You’ll also be shown some useful resources to support your own shell searches and seashore discoveries long after the workshop ends. To finish, you’ll get the chance to explore a collection of shells from across the island of Ireland, including rare and unusual specimens that we may not find on the day.
