Sea The Weed - Ceremony, Science and Snorkelling

This Friday at 6am!!
Join AIME Aboriginal Indigenous Mentoring Experience's, ocean ambassadors in an extraordinary underwater reforestation reveal. Be grounded in traditional ways and be guided by experts as you swim amongst thousands of extraordinary aquatic species. Touch and view the magical Phyllospora Comosa 'Crayweed', a remarkable ocean species holding carbon and feeding thousands of thriving fauna.
This is a once in a lifetime experience that'll energise you to see possibilities in the face of our current climate quagmire.

Wetsuits, goggles & flippers provided in a range of sizes.
PROGRAM
- 6 - 7am Ceremony with Arthur Little
- 7 - 7.30am Marine science with Adriana Verges from Operation Crayweed
- 7.30 - 9am Swimming with Crayweed, guided by Brenden Newton & Arthur Little
Supported by Abyss Scuba Team
BRING (if you have them)
- Goggles (& snorkel if you know how to use such)
- Full wetsuit (if you are not comfortable with slightly cold water)
- Flippers (preferably a pair you can walk in i.e.- swim-fins)
*NOTE: if you’d like to use a hire gear, pls provide height, weight & shoe size by Jan 17, 5pm
CONDITIONS
Photographs, videos and voice recordings
Randwick City Council staff may on occasion take recordings of participants during activities (including photographs, videos and voice recordings) that could be used for the following purposes:
- educational or community information purpose
- Council displays and promotions of community education events
- to complement the promotion of Randwick's Marine and Coastal Program.
If you DO NOT wish for the participant’s recording to be used according to these conditions, please indicate this during the booking process.
Cancellation conditions
This activity may be cancelled due to insufficient bookings, NSW health orders or poor weather. Participants will be advised in the event the activity changes or cancellation occurs. All care has been made in the preparation of the 2024 Marine and Coastal Discovery Program but some changes may occur due to circumstances beyond the control of Randwick City Council. Refunds will be provided for paid activities that are cancelled 48 hrs prior to the event start and in the event of cancellation by Council.
