Flare Ōtautahi Street Art Festival, Watch This Space and PangeaSeed proudly present Seaside Chats - an evening of conversation and film as part of Sea Signals, a public art festival for ocean conservation.
The night will begin with a short film screening from PangeaSeed (details to be confirmed), followed by a one-hour panel discussion featuring Sea Signals artists alongside local ocean researchers. Together, they’ll explore the intersection of art and environment, how creative practice can spark vital conversations, and the research, lived experience and kaupapa that have informed the festival artworks across Ōtautahi.
The evening will conclude with film screenings from Blue Cradle Trust, including The Tiaki Moana Documentary, introduced by Sam from Blue Cradle.
The Tiaki Moana documentary follows an unprecedented regional movement that brought together 200 participants from 35 countries - youth, scientists, policymakers and community leaders - to chart new pathways for ocean governance across the Pacific. Filmed in Tahiti and Mo‘orea, the film shares powerful stories of collaboration, culture and care for our shared ocean.
Seaside Chats reflects the meaningful kaupapa of Sea Signals and the stunning artworks appearing across the city. Gather your crew, pack some snacks, and join us for an inspiring and thoughtful evening centred on moana, creativity and collective action.
This is a free event, but numbers are limited. Your Registration will include popcorn & a soft drink.
