Event description

Seb Szabo and Mood Spill LIVE AT SOOKI LOUNGE with special guest, Saint Victoire

Sunday the 29th of January / 8pm Doors /$15 Entry

Sincere, charismatic and determined, Seb Szabo has never been afraid to be himself. In 2022, his voice and artistry have never been stronger - nor as vulnerable. Born in California and raised in Melbourne, the Australian songwriter bloomed late, attending law school while secretly writing songs. Beginning his solo career supporting San Cisco at university in 2019, the 26-year-old has become a mainstay of Victoria’s hardworking music scene.

With a soaring, yearning voice evoking Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Seb’s songwriting bursts with life and energy, blending cinematic indie rock reminiscent of Gang of Youths with thoughtful lyricism to paint colourful canvases of life and love. His defiant and punchy new single “Leaning On You (Wrecking Ball)” manifests a new, bolder creative vision, forged in Szabo’s own battles with mental health.

Through anxious times, the chemistry between Seb Szabo and his band has expanded even further - diving into the darkest recesses of the psyche, translating our deepest, most powerful emotions live onstage into something awe-inspiring.

Mood Spill is a Naarm/Melbourne-based indie rock band with folk roots comprised of Tom Riccioni, Adrian Verna, Bailey Brown, Georgia-Grace Buckingham and Oli Morley-Sattler.

This harmonious five-piece bring real emotion to their live performance with charisma that will have you weeping one minute and laughing the next, delivering luscious vocal harmonies over soaring guitar riffs and vivacious rhythms.

On the back of winning Melbourne label Pieater’s Pie School Competition 2022 (Big Scary, #1 Dads, Maple Glider), appearing at festivals such as Katoomba Winter Magic Festival and Tannamon Valley Music Festival in NSW, and packing out their debut Melbourne show at the iconic Cherry Bar, Mood Spill are set to be making big leaps forward, with future releases hotly anticipated by their growing fanbase.

Saint Victoire is a Melbourne born and based singer-songwriter. Her storytelling leans on musical influences of Americana, folk, country, indie-pop-rock and cathartic instrumentals. Saint Victoire's live act is all about making you feel real good, and the visible synergy of the band is born out of a love of sharing music with others. You can expect to hear songs from the EP 'A thing I'd hate to change' reinvented, as well as a range of new music like soon to be released single 'Foreigner'.
