Featuring the sounds of:

Anthony Forrest

Renowned as the frontman of the award-winning band Kingfisha, Anthony Forrest has captivated audiences with his smooth vocal delivery and eclectic sound. Now embarking on a solo career, Forrest blends elements of trip-hop, electronica, and soul, creating an aurally stunning experience. His debut self-titled album, featuring tracks like "Hot Rock" and "Get There," has been praised for its heavy bass and multi-textural layers.

Tommy Sexton and The Suggestions

The sonic lovechild of Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan, Tommy straddles soul, disco funk and post-apocalyptic yacht rock as smooth as he slips into his silk purple robes or well ironed buttoned shirt and suit pants.

Menajerie

Neo-soul making, no shit taking, gonna get your booty shaking Menajerie are a 6-piece female led collective based in Meanjin / Brisbane. Menajerie pens joyous, heartbreaking and honest originals with a strong focus on tight vocal harmony and cosmic funk.

HRBRT

HRBRT are a renowned experimental funk-fusion / doof-jazz / neo-soul group from Meanjin/Brisbane. Since their formation in 2013 and the release of their acclaimed 2019 EP 'Melopoeia', HRBRT has been shaking up the local music scene with their high-energy performances and innovative musical style. Their music is characterised by groovy bass lines, complex yet danceable rhythms and soulful melodies, combined with improvisational elements that make each performance unique.

Sixth of the Sun

Sixth of the Sun are a 7-piece neo soul group based in Meanjin/Brisbane. Their band’s chief songwriter, Chelle Janse van Rensburg, amplifies tales of a commonly blazed path for queer folk - a lifelong journey from shame to freedom. Drenched in soul, Chelle uses music and drag as catharsis. Their performances narrate themes of displacement, dissociation and chronic illness. Chelle’s reverent vocals are supported by six of Meanjin’s excellent and versatile musicians. Pianist Teabo Fargo, Alex Askew on bass, guitarist Daniel Booth and Tyler Shilling on percussion. They are all joined by the brilliant musings of Melanie G and Rosa Mack on backing vocals.

Peter Hunt Band

Peter Hunt and Band featuring Tom Hinchliffe on bass, Travis Jenkins on guitar and Sam Mitchell on drums, weave their musical miniatures of the universe for listeners to dance with their reflections. With Peter on trumpet and guitar they’ll expand on songs from his Vessel album as well and some other of his African-jazz-soul inspired explorations.
