Join permaculture teacher Jenny Kato as she introduces you to the secrets of the soil. Discover what the soil food web is and how it creates a Soil Sponge that can store water, sequester carbon, cool the surrounding area, and produce incredible food! You will learn the five principles for creating a healthy Soil Sponge and strategies, such as composting, worm farming and cover crops.Â
Youth Offer
This workshop is available to teenagers (12 to 18 years) accompanied by mum, dad or an adult guardian who have also paid to attend the workshop.
About the Facilitator
Jenny is a permaculture designer, consultant and educator, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biology. A keen gardener since childhood, Jenny has a passion for creating resilient edible ecosystems that provide nutrient dense food while nourishing the earth and other beings. Through her practice, Living Patterns Permaculture, Jenny has worked with schools, community groups and home gardeners seeking to develop their own knowledge of edible ecosystems as a sustainable lifestyle. Jenny is dedicated to building resilient communities and food security in a sustainable and ethical way and has been involved with many local community food initiatives.
