About NAVA and NAVA’s Code of Practice

The National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA) is a membership organisation that brings together the many voices of the contemporary arts sector to improve fundamental conditions of work and practice.

They do this through advocacy, education and the Code of Practice - a living online document that covers good practice approaches to working relationships, ethical standards of access and inclusion, and payment rates for artists and arts workers.

Donnalyn Xu, from NAVA, will be onsite offering practical guidance on:

fair pay and artist fees
contracts and working relationships
applying the Code of Practice in real scenarios

What could I ask?

“How do I figure out what I should charge for this project?”

"When should I be paid superannuation?

“How do I price my work when I’m early career vs more established?”

“What should I look for in a contract before signing?”

"What accessibility measures can I ask for in a project?

"How do I protect my Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP)?"

"What does a NAVA membership offer me?"
