About the Initiative

“Securing Our Future: Cyber Essentials for Parliamentarians” is a series of tailored cybersecurity awareness sessions designed specifically for parliamentarians, and their staff.

Delivered virtually during the week of 27 October, through the collaborative efforts of the University of Canberra, NIIN Cyber Alliance and Cisco, the sessions will cover:

·             Cyber 101: Key terms and essential concepts

·             Threat Landscape: Cybercriminal and nation-state activity, including the impact of AI

·             Panel & Q&A: Cyber resilience, emerging technologies, and practical steps for online protection

This initiative is purposefully scheduled to align with the Australian Government’s Cyber Awareness Month (CAW). The 2025 theme, “Building Our Cyber Safe Culture,” highlights the need for a unified and proactive approach to cybersecurity within Parliament and across the public sector.

This event is designed to support and reinforce the broader objectives of Cyber Awareness Month by fostering cyber resilience and knowledge among parliamentarians and their staff.
