Open Garden, Seed Bank Opening and Plant and Produce Swap.

Where: 25 Alexandra Way, Table Top. (10 minutes North of Lavington)
Program:
9am-10am Early Garden Tour
10am to 11am Seed Bank Opening, Plant and Produce Swap.
11am to 12 noon Later Garden Tour
Cost: Free for members, non-members $4.00 paid on arrival, BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL. NSW Government Health Orders require that all attendees over 16 must provide evidence of full vaccination status.
Seed Savers Albury Wodonga encourages the saving of seed from useful, edible, and beneficial plants. There will be time between garden sessions to access our seed bank for your spring and summer planting.
Gardeners are a lovely, sharing bunch. Feel free to bring any extra seeds, plants, or produce from your own garden to share and swap with others on the day.
About our Open Garden
Previously owning a large, labor-intensive ornamental garden, Sharon decided that only plants that were edible or that were otherwise beneficial would be planted when she moved to her new house at Table Top in 2012. She departed from the traditional “vegie patch down the bottom of the garden” approach and incorporated the edible garden into the decorative landscape of her home.
Having little experience at growing food, Sharon founded the online community “Grassroots Living Albury-Wodonga” and embarked on a ten-year gardening experiment that has included wicking beds, no-dig gardens, lasagna beds, hügelkultur, worm towers, grow bags and more. She is passionate about growing food without it costing the earth, using reclaimed materials where possible and of course, growing almost everything from seed. She now harvests hundreds of kilos of food every year and loves to share her successes and failures in the hope others will be inspired to do the same.
