Seed saving in a community garden
Event description
Come along to the Edible Hub Community Garden and learn all about harvesting and saving seeds.
In this session we'll look at different plants in the community garden to recognise when seeds are dry and ready to harvest. We'll also find out about the typical shapes of seeds and flowering stalks from different plant families, which can make identification easier.
Learn about cleaning your harvested seeds and storing them for use next season. And you can even bring along seeds you'd like to share or identify. (If possible, keep the seed heads attached to make identification easier.)

About the presenter
Marina Bistrin works in empowering ways to share knowledge across many fields, including sustainability, dance/movement, community art, home vegetable gardening and Permaculture. She is currently promoting the process of hot and cold composting using waste ingredients such as coffee grounds and coffee chaff. Marina has tutored at Macleod Organic Community Garden and with Local Food Connect.
