Explore the fundamental principles of seed saving, understanding the life cycle of plants, and identifying the best candidates for saving seeds. Horticulturist Craig Castree will chat about methods for processing, drying and storing seeds. Discover the importance of maintaining seed purity and viability, and understand the role of genetic diversity in sustaining resilient plant populations.

This workshop is being run at one of the Wyndham Seed Library  location at Manor Lakes Library, participants are encouraged to bring their own harvested seeds for exchange. 

Craig Castree is an award-winning Horticulturist of 45 years’ experience at growing his own food organically and creating edible gardens. He is a Published author 5 books all pointed toward being self sufficient on an urban block. You will have no doubt seen him on channel 7TWO on Vasilis Garden as one of the regular presenters, or heard him speaking on 3AW, and on 88.3 Southern FM. Now see him speak live on edible gardening and how you could be producing your own food organically on an urban block, using companion planting, and in small spaces.

Please note that this is an event for Naarm/Melbourne gardeners only. If you live outside this area, please contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally. 

If you have any access or support questions or requirements in order to participate fully (eg. interpreter), please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you.
