    Event description

Sow seeds like an OMG Farmer.

Learn how to grow your spring and summer seedlings with OMG market gardeners Jake and Maddy, using regenerative, organic principles and practices.

Sowing and nurturing seedlings is a beautiful process, where we collaborate with nature to foster new life. Join us as we share our knowledge on growing resilient, healthy, and diverse seedlings from seeds. Delve into the fascinating world encoded within these tiny capsules of evolutionary history and knowledge.

In this workshop, you will learn about:

    • Seed selection and variety
    • Seed sovereignty and saving
    • Microbial inoculation
    • Growing substrates and mediums
    • Propagation trays and cell sizes
    • Poly-sowing methods
    • Greenhouse management and watering

Included in the ticket price is a punnet of seedlings that you will sow yourself, to take home and nurture, enjoying the abundance they will bring.

Please be prepared to get your hands dirty! Wear clothes suitable for soil contact, closed-toe shoes, and bring gloves if you have them (though we can provide them if needed).

    UPDATE:

On Saturday 31st August there will be a free seed sowing workshop being held at Gus Fisher Gallery by Jake Clarke, Head Farmer at OMG and queer artist. This will be part of the current DEREK JARMAN: DELPHINIUM DAYS exhibition running from 15 June – 14 September 2024 at the Gus Fisher Gallery. This will be a workshop celebrating Derek Jarman's work and queer expression within nature. Head to this website to find out more.
