Event description

Our presenter, Greg Mueller from www.usefulseeds.com, Bendigo, specializes in breeding seeds suited to the needs of backyard gardeners and the variable but dry climate and poor soils of central Victoria. By using seed saved locally, your plants can adapt to the local climate. You can select for the traits that best suit your needs and your environment, whether it be: taste, size, insect resistant, early or late varieties to extend harvest, frost hardy, longer keeping…etc.

You will learn to how to identify, pick, winnow, ferment, and store seed to ensure plant purity by understanding what plants will cross-pollinate. The workshop will give you experience with wet and dry seed processing techniques.
