Seeds in the Dark

This work begins from the understanding that all life is animate and alive. Our lineages are not only human. Our ancestors include rivers, trees, mosses, stones, birds, soil, and stars. The living world carries stories, ruptures, resilience, and belonging alongside our family systems.

Our Seeds in the Dark series is grounded in deep listening. Listening to what has been carried across generations. Listening to what lives in the body, the land, and the wider ancestral field. Through embodied constellation work, we explore what is challenging us in the present as a gateway to ancestral repair and reconnection. We consider how repeating challenges may be loyalties to energies of the past that are asking to be integrated.

Embodied Constellations are practiced from this wider field of relationship. We listen not only to family histories, but to ecosystems, places, waters, and living forces that have shaped our people across time. This perspective offers a broader ground for healing, one that recognizes many of the patterns we live with as inherited, systemic, and relational, rather than personal failings or individual burdens.

Winter naturally supports this way of working. Darkness, rest, and stillness slow the pace enough for another kind of knowing to emerge. Beneath the surface, roots and seeds remain active. What has been waiting can speak.

What Are Constellations?

Family and Systemic Constellations are an embodied way of bringing hidden patterns, inherited dynamics, and unresolved movements into view. With roots in Indigenous Zulu wisdom from South Africa, this work allows us to perceive the larger systems we belong to and to sense where life has been interrupted, excluded, or unable to flow.

Constellations do not work through analysis or explanation. Information arises through sensation, emotion, impulse, and relationship. What becomes visible is often felt immediately, without needing to be understood conceptually.

What Happens in a Session?

Each evening unfolds with care, spaciousness, and attention to integration. We begin by gathering as a group and sharing what is alive for each of us. From there, we move into two group constellation processes, one before the break and one after.

Flow of the Evening

6:30 PM – Opening tea ceremony and land acknowledgement
6:45 PM – Introduction to constellations, meeting one another, and sharing intentions
7:00 PM – First group constellation
7:50 PM – Integration meditation
8:00–8:15 PM – Break
8:15 PM – Second group constellation
9:10 PM – Integration meditation and closing circle
9:30 PM – Complete

One or two participants bring forward an issue, block, question, or place of curiosity they are living with. This may relate to family, health, grief, belonging, relationships, work, or something that is present but difficult to name.

With facilitator support, elements connected to this theme are represented by people in the group. Representations may include ancestors, family members, emotions, illnesses, beliefs, inner parts, land, plants, or archetypal forces. There is no acting or performance. Participants simply notice what arises in their bodies and share when invited.

What If I Don’t Have Any Experience?

No prior experience with constellations is needed. Representation is always optional. You may be invited to represent something, or you may remain in the witnessing circle for the entire evening. Both are full and meaningful ways of participating.

What If I Don’t Know Much About, or Don’t Feel Connected to, My Family of Origin?

You do not need to have knowledge of, agreement with, or positive feelings toward your family of origin. Family systems include biological, adoptive, foster, step, and chosen family, as well as cultural and land-based lineages. You do not need to reconcile, forgive, or make contact for this work to be meaningful.

Constellations meet what is present now, not an idealized version of family or history.

One Person’s Work Is Shared Work

In group constellations, the work of one person often carries something for many. What you represent for another may hold insight or movement for your own life. What you witness may touch places in your own lineage that are ready to be seen.

Each evening includes integration meditations where the movements revealed in the constellation are brought back into our own bodies and lineages. In this way, ancestral repair and reconnection move through the whole group, becoming embodied through each of us.

Holding the Complexity of Lineage

We will be in group practice together, working with ancestral and historical themes that can be tender, complex, and at times challenging to meet. While we hold the space with care, presence, and deep listening, the field itself can carry many layers of emotion, memory, and story.

All lineages have caused harm and been harmed. These truths may arise in our sessions to be witnessed and named. We hold the belief that even the most difficult realities can be included when we are willing to understand the lineages and conditions that created them. This work does not rush toward resolution, but makes space for honesty, complexity, and shared witnessing.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

All registrations are final and non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, your payment may be transferred as a credit toward a future Embodied Constellations session, minus a $10 administrative fee when cancelled with 24 hours' notice.
