This workshop is for DISABLED, CHRONICALLY ILL, IMMUNCOMPROMISE, &/OR NEUROSPICY FOLKS 
*If you are not any of above you can still come but you gotta pay honey*

This is an intro to advocating for ourselves withing the Medical Industrial Complex. 
Let's prepare with each other and for each other <333

Layout:

We will do introductions; I will provide context for the workshop. 

Then we will share our fears of seeking medical care.
We will share experiences of medical staff treatment; what has worked and what hasn't when trying to access care
We will look at the graphic of the MIC by Mia Mingus together
I will share 3-4 different configurations of pod mapping
We will do 1 practice scenario as a whole group 
Then 2- 3 practice scenarios in break out groups as time permits

About Your Facilitator:

Rise is a queer Black disabled genderfluid femmeboi; A visual artist, poet, full spectrum (birth/postpartum/grief & loss/abortion) birtworker, yoga teacher, meditation facilitator, gender affirming and trauma informed care and disability justice educator, access consultant and community care worker. 

Rise is deeply invested in disability justice, access, centering wellness for Black queer folk, trauma education, and rest. Also of course! A lover of doing the most.
