Self-Care Workshop on Mental Health
Event description
When Robyn Semple struggled in her life with the question "What's wrong with me" she started on a journey to understand her struggle with mental health and what's going on inside the brain and body.
Our Mental Health is one of the most important asset we can have.
We need to ensure that we look after our mental health each and every day
Understanding how to care of our mental health and the origins of mental health issues and understanding the mechanics of this complete issue is what we will be covering at my next Self-Care Workshop is delving into the area of "Mental Health" with Robyn Semple discussing her upcoming book.
Robyn Semple asks and answers the question how does a privileged, white woman from a loving family, and living in a first-world country develop severe mental illness and suicidal ideation? For me it was persistent psychological abuse—the insidiousness of my trauma belied the impact on my health. Trauma does not have to be extreme to generate illness. Our genetic make-up, vulnerability, and resilience are risk factors.
I have written the book I needed to read forty years ago. Understanding why I became sick was liberating. Sharing what I have learned and exposing the messy, raw despair wrought by mental illness will hopefully help others. When we understand how psychological trauma affects our bodies physically, we can comprehend how therapies and treatments can address the damage caused and treat our mental illnesses. Understanding what’s happening in our bodies can give us a sense of control at times in our lives when we feel we are struggling for control. Understanding promotes healing.
It's often just a few tweaks here and there that transform your life from average to amazing and knowledge is power. So let's acquire some knowledge and skill sets to support ourselves and the people we love on this most important topic.
