The Offering

We are bringing you a 4 hour Self Defense Workshop AIMED AT SW'rs & Open to LGBTQIA+

4 HOURS? BUT THE EVENT SAYS 6 HRS?

Yes! After the workshop we are holding some space for community building & networking if you want to stay & socialise.
This first workshop will be held at RUBIX warehouse, which is an event space/nightclub with a bar.
The bar will not be open until AFTER THE WORKSHOP.

This event is hosted by Veronica who is a Queer SW'r- in collaboration with the amazing (& all femme!) team at Self Defense Hub!

So lets talk about our two incredible martial arts experts who will facilitate this workshop for you!

Andre & Jade have a wealth (25+ yrs) of experience in martial arts training.

Together they will walk you through safety tips, exercises, role play scenarios & more!

Andre & Jade are dedicated to providing an informative, safe and fun environment for all!

So what will happen during this time?

The first two hours will cover all your self defense essentials!

Then we will take a small break before moving into more situation & environment specific scenarios.

This is when there will be some opportunity for questions and requests.

At the end we've set aside some time to socialise!

REMEMBER TO WEAR SOMETHING COMFY, EXERCISE GEAR, CLOSED TOED SHOES, WE ENCOURAGE RUNNERS.

This is a safe space to learn, explore and voice your concerns!

We are all here to feel a little safer!

As a result we will have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for

SWERFS, TERFS, BULLIES / RUDE OR ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR.

Well, we like to promote you to take it as you go, engage at your own capacity, honour your own comfortability, be kind and have fun!
All while learning incredible skills that can save lives!

Thats what this environment is all about.

And we're here to make that a positive and safe, community building experience for you!

Our self-defence workshops are thoughtfully designed to be inclusive, empowering participants of all abilities to feel safe and confident. While many of the techniques taught involve physical activity, we aim to create a supportive and adaptive environment where everyone can learn valuable skills tailored to their needs. If you have specific mobility or physical considerations, we encourage you to reach out, so we can discuss how best to accommodate you and ensure a positive experience.
Your safety and empowerment are at the heart of what we do.

The event space is fully accessible. 🖤

There are quiet places to sit if you need some down time and we have people available for support as well.

What to Expect!

Arrive- 12:45pm 15 minutes to settle in.

We will provide everyone with a name tag sticker & ask that you put your preferred name & pronouns for the day

1-5pm 4 hour Self Defense Workshop- with a small break.

FOLLOWED BY

5-7pm Stay for a drink & chat!

We think its important to set aside some time to wind down, network, & build community, and this time will be a nice opportunity to discuss all that we have learnt during the day!

There will be complimentary tea, coffee & water available throughout the day but feel free to BYO SNACKS & WATERBOTTLE!

You can also order food to the venue in a pinch.

The event space has a bar with both alcoholic and non alcoholic options which you are able to engage AFTER 5pm if you wish!
Absolutely NO BYO ALCOHOL!

*Staying to socialise is completely optional, for those who want to!!
