Send/Return ~ Katie Pearson and Millú All Night Long
Event description
Send/Return ~ Katie Pearson and Millú All Night Long
Two djs; back-to-back; all night long.
For the third instalment of our deep dive that is Send/Return we bring together a perfect pairing, Katie Pearson and Millú, two names that we all know well and love who have well and truly anchored themselves in the music community in Narrm.
Katie Pearson
The genre bending, unique and authentic selector and party starter that is Katie Pearson has been providing dancefloors in Melbourne with liberating dance floor experiences for over a decade. She has long been at the forefront of Australia’s queer dance scene, most notably as co-host of “gay ass disco”, The Outpost. A peak-time purveyor at festivals like Dark Mofo & Pitch Music & Arts. A mood-setting maestro for names like Honey Dijon & Chez Damier. A trusted resident of fabled institution Revolver Upstairs. A devout digger, sharing her eclectic taste on airwaves like The Lot Radio & Skylab Radio.
Katie has developed a deep understanding of music, the genetic makeup of a dance party and sweaty dance floors over many years of practising her art. She has the ability to seamlessly weave in-and-out of disco, house, tech house, trance, techno and much more without a glitch like no one else in Narrm. As a Dj, Katie Pearson sits refreshingly beyond the realm of the constant fluctuating trends and consistently delivers the special moments of dance floor ecstasy that we are perpetually in pursuit of.
Millú
Master of her craft, Millú is another DJ who can work with and transform all kinds of dance floors with her incredibly diverse selections that fuse heavy rhythms, big basslines, and tightly flowing mixing, making it impossible to leave the dance floor. It’s clear that everything Millú does is deeply considered and full of intention because you can physically feel it when you’re on the dancefloor. Millú is an avid collector and supporter of local records and artists but also has a love for early kraut and psychedelic music.
Having a taste for the eccentric and the ability to saunter between genres and tempos gives her the ability to challenge our perceptions of when and where certain records should be played like no other dj, in a way that feels safe and comfortable but also exciting. Whether she’s commanding a festival dance floor (Golden Plains, Inner Varnika, Hopkins Creek), curating local radio shows or laying it down in the club, her music selections and mixing leave a lasting afterglow like no other.
Come and enjoy this dream duo as they dig deep into their collections for an exploration of a genre (and all its manifestations) that we hold close to our hearts.
