Seniors Week Workshop Day

Join Loreto Community Housing to celebrate Seniors Week with a full day of fun workshops! Come to one or come to all! Workshops are booked separately - please order your free ticket for each workshop you wish to attend. Light refreshments provided at all sessions.

Seedling Potting - with Material Institute
10am-11am - Material Institute (2a Eddington St, Bridgewater)
Get a crash course on potting up seedlings with the team at the Material Institute! These veggie seedlings and native plant cuttings will prepare their nursery for the summer growing season. Also enjoy a short tour of the site and learn about their amazing programs.
The Material Institute team runs events, social enterprises and food education programs for community and schools across the state, using their beautiful gardens as a hub for learning and connection.
This activity is lightly physical. Participants will need to be able to comfortably and confidently move around the site, particularly the gravel pathways. This workshop will require participants to stand while potting.

Vegetable Planting - with Material Institute
11am-12pm - Material Institute (2a Eddington St, Bridgewater)
Help the Material Institute Garden Grow! Plant some veggies in their garden, enjoy a short tour of the site, and learn about their amazing programs.
The Material Institute team runs events, social enterprises and food education programs for community and schools across the state, using their beautiful gardens as a hub for learning and connection.
This activity is lightly physical. Participants will need to be able to comfortably and confidently move around the site, particularly the gravel pathways. This workshop will require participants to kneel while planting.

Get to Know Your Devices Sessions - with Libraries Tasmania
12pm-2pm –15min one-on-one session - Brighton Civic Centre (25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater)
This is a fun free digital literacy session providing support and learning using mobile devices.
You will work one-on-one with a Libraries Tasmania team member to get to know your device and answer any questions you have.
Bring your own device:
• iPad
• Mobile phone
• Tablet
Troubleshoot and learn something new! 
No pressure, step by step learning. Bring a notebook and take notes!

Watercolour Card and Bookmark Making Workshop - with Jida
12pm-1pm – Brighton Civic Centre (25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater)
Join Jida to create beautiful watercolour cards and floral bookmarks, perfect to give to your loved ones or keep for yourself. 
You’ll learn basic watercolour techniques and focus on enjoying the process of making these hand-painted cards and bookmarks. 
No prior experience is necessary! All skill levels are welcome. 
Come join us for a free, fun, and relaxing creative experience! All materials provided.

Candle Making - with Sharlene
1pm-2pm - Brighton Civic Centre (25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater)
Join Sharlene for a lighthearted, hands-on candle making experience where the guesswork is gone, and the fun begins! Whether you're flying solo or catching up with friends, this relaxed session is perfect for all skill levels.
Create one candle to take home along with a worksheet. All tools, materials, and apron provided.

Flower Crown Making Workshop - with Queen of Crowns
2pm-3pm - Brighton Civic Centre (25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater)
Join Tash from Queen of Crowns Hobart for a fun afternoon making beautiful flower crowns and wreaths to take home. 
Get creative and use a range of fresh and dried flowers to create beautiful designs. All materials provided.

BINGO/Trivia - with Hollie from Loreto Community Housing
3pm-4pm - Brighton Civic Centre (25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater)
Join us for BINGO and Trivia! A range of great prizes up for grabs.

Seniors Zumba Class - with Rhonda
4pm- 4:45m Brighton Civic Centre (25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater)
Join Ronda for 45 minutes of FUN, SMILES, ENERGY and LAUGHS with Zumba Gold! 
Suitable for all mobility types with a range of options to suit all fitness levels.

These workshops are for those 55 years and over. Spaces are limited so please be considerate of others and only book workshops which you know you will be able to attend. Workshops are booked separately - please order your free ticket for each workshop you wish to attend.
