Sensory Processing in Practice: From Observation to Action (Advancing)
Description
This advancing session will move from foundational sensory theory into practical application. Participants will explore how to use observation to identify possible sensory patterns, triggers, regulation needs and adult responses, while also considering other factors that may influence behaviour, including communication, pain, anxiety, demand, fatigue, health, relationships and the environment.
The session will introduce the importance of ruling out pain and physical discomfort, including the use of structured observation tools such as the FLACC Pain Scale where appropriate. Participants will consider the difference between universal, targeted and personalised sensory support and will practise moving from observation to a clear, purposeful, consistently recorded and reviewed action plan.
This module has been accredited by the NCFE and can be considered when working towards the NCFE Award. Participants are required to complete five modules, including the mandatory module.
