Sensory Subtleties - Feldenkrais Method meets Contact Improvisation: for a more connected dance

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Come finesse your perception of sensory subtleties through the intersection of dancing contact improvisation and a guided Feldenkrais exploration of how movement connects through your whole body.

This 4 hour workshop is facilitated by Shona Lee and Eamonn O’Flaherty.

Shona has been teaching Feldenkrais since 2016 and a professional massage therapist since 2010; she loves the sensory self-discoveries that both Feldenkrais and Contact Improvisation offer through connected, exploratory playfulness.

Eamonn has been a dedicated Contact Improv dancer and teacher for over a decade. Having experienced how life changing it can be to practice such a challenging, honest and endlessly deep form, he seeks to share that great gift with the world.

We’ll explore:

  • Tactile ‘information’
  • Playing with directions that are available in different positions / points of contact
  • Injury prevention - awareness of self and other
  • Following the path of least resistance

There will be an opportunity to integrate these ideas into a dance jam towards the end of the workshop but no dancing experience is required to take part, the partner exercises are very accessible to all.
