This is an opportunity for BIPOC Therapists to breathe, share, and be in community with others who understand the unique weight we carry in this work. So often, we pour into others while holding the complexities of our identities, often in isolation. But healing work isn’t meant to happen alone.

Whether you're a seasoned therapist, just starting out, or somewhere in between, you are welcome here.

On the Body, Belonging, and Becoming: Embodiment and the Social Conditions of Healing by Farah Reynoso, LMSW (she/her)

Drawing on lived experience and trauma-informed social work, Farah explores how physical bodies hold unspoken stories, how social systems impact self-worth, and how true healing restores connection to ourselves and our communities.

Love Beyond Monogamy: Understanding Polyamory, Ethical Non-Monogamy & BIPOC Relationship Experiences, A Culturally Responsive Exploration of Relationship Diversity by Amie Wells, LMHC (she/her)

What happens when we expand our understanding of what a healthy relationship can look like?

This presentation explores foundational concepts defining Polyamory and Ethical Non-Monogamy by reviewing terminology, culture and identity to better understand the diverse spectrum of Polyamorous relationship dynamics and their differences. Participants will examine and address common myths, misconceptions, relationship dynamics, culture, lived experience, risk and protective factors in addition to other implications for clinical practice through a BIPOC and QBIPOC centered lens.

Each presenter chose a book that pairs with their presentation, inviting people to dive deeper into the subjects. Find it at our local bookstore, Mil Mundos in Bushwick! They carry books that elevate Black, Latinx, and Indigenous writers. You can also grab one at our event!

A little bit about our presenters :)

Farah Reynoso, LMSW (she/her), was born in the Dominican Republic and migrated to the United States, navigating language barriers and cultural transitions that shaped her understanding of resilience and belonging. She earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work from CUNY Hunter College and her Master’s from Fordham University.

Farah is a yoga and meditation teacher whose practice is rooted in Buddhist teachings. She is a trauma-informed, restorative justice–informed practitioner, integrating somatic practices in her work as a school social worker with the NYC DOE and as a therapist within a clinical holistic practice.

She is passionate about supporting immigrant communities and survivors of sexual assault, and exploring the connections between mental health, sustainability, and Animal Rights Theory.

Amie Wells, LMHC (she/her), is a New York-based Mental Health Clinician and the owner and founder of Freedom Tree Mental Health Counseling, PLLC. In her practice, she specializes in treating trauma and romantic relationships for adult individuals and couples from marginalized communities, including those who identify as LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Ethically Non-Monogamous, and Polyamorous. Ms. Wells identifies as a Black, Caribbean-American, Queer, and Polyamorous Woman with over 10 years of experience in various service settings, including in-home therapy, community-based services, and Private Practice. Her therapeutic approach is relational, holistic, multi-cultural, and multi-therapeutic, incorporating a variety of trauma-focused modalities. Her commitment is assisting clients in their healing journey and developing a trajectory toward cultivating strong, healthy, and loving relationships with both themselves and with others.
