Event description

Sequence of Spaces is an interactive multimedia exhibition that explores the intersection between written language and visual storytelling. Turning the experiment 001 studio in the Nicholas Building into a liminal office space, the installation invites visitors to type words into a keyboard which produces a corresponding visual narrative that is projected live. Merging code, poetry and visual ephemera, these sentences created by participants are then printed to be displayed within the space, accumulating over time.

Through the work, the act of typing is transformed from what is often a solitary and arduous endeavor, into a larger creative collaboration. How we interpret written language also greatly differs to how we engage with images, and the correlations we create between the two are often difficult to explain or justify. As such, the work asks for engagement to exemplify how our individual experiences and ways of seeing can contribute to a shared narrative.

Each night, the exhibition will host drinks and music by Contact Sports from 7pm, with a live durational performance piece by Joyce Liu at 8pm.
