Serfing The Web 2.0
Description
The second Serfing The Web for 2026!
Again, this free event brings together a panel of artists from various disciplines for a facilitated discussion and community workshop addressing online cultures and the arts. Art makers and lovers of all forms are invited to contribute to our creative contemplations on people, power, art and the internet.
‘Technofeudalism’ (Varofakis, 2024) suggests that, thanks to Big Tech, we have re-entered the feudal system, toiling as serfs while our tech overlords reap rewards at unprecedented rates. We are interested in exploring this theory through the lens of art practitioners and enjoyers. Bringing together ideas from other texts and thinkers we aim to foster new artistic practices to better promote creativity and community.
This iteration will be an extension of the June workshop held at Miscellania.
