Seriously Silly: Comedic Character Development for Burlesque

Take your burlesque silliness seriously! Adelaide based award winning fools Diana Divine (Mx Burlesque Adelaide 2023, Adelaide Fringe Emerging Artist 2022) and Iris Envy (Mx Burlesque South Australia 2024) are here to help you level-up your comedic acts. We'll be working on your understanding of joke structure and communicating your ideas to your audiences, including the delicate balance of referential humour in "niche" acts.

Bringing their signature "friendly dickhead" energy to 19 on Green Community Centre, Iris and Diana will lead exercises and discussions around the why and how of making sexy silly - or vice versa.

This workshop involves the following activities with a strong emphasis on collaboration and exploring new ideas:

• Group discussion

The Brickyard at 19 On Green has a wheelchair accessible entry and toilet. The content of workshop is entirely seated and generally theory-focused. This venue is wheelchair accessible. Please note the room has non-dimmable fluorescent lights. The host recommends bringing sensory supports such as sunglasses, a hooded jumper, earplugs and/or headphones as needed.
