SESNA2021 | The Beating Heart of Social Enterprise

Social Enterprise is not new in Northern Australia. It has always been here, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As a result, it is more than just a business model. It’s a way of life, it’s our community, it’s in our hearts.

At this year's digital Social Enterprise Summit for Northern Australia, hear from business leaders from the region such as Liandra Gaykamangu (Founder Liandra Swim and co-CEO Enterprise Learning Projects), Elena Wangurra (Founder of Queenmode), Natasha Short (Managing Director, Kimberley Jiyigas), Flora Warrior (Founder and Coordinator Mabuiag Island NILS Program), Bianca Stawiarski (Managing Director, Warida Wholistic Wellness) and MORE.

This year, we are also building in post-event advocacy, drawing from the Summit to contribute to the National Strategy for Social Enterprise, the Social Enterprise World Forum scheduled for Brisbane in 2022, and aspiring to create our own roundtable for the region to further these conversations.

Mikaela is a proud Larrakia women living on her own Country. This artwork was inspired by the cymatics,  cymatics, or geometric patterns created in heart cells when applying various sounds. This represents the common connection we all share, and the responses that we all have when exposed to sound - music and sound is a deep and rich aspect of both Indigenous and Western cultures and is a language we share in common.
