Tidal Rhythms - 'Treasures of the Southern Ocean'
Description
Come and discover the fascinating world of Treasures of the Southern Ocean.
This is a walk-in session offering a unique opportunity to listen, learn and draw the creatures and habitats of the Southern Ocean. Focus on unusual and remarkable marine life, shells, seaweeds and ocean discoveries.
Join Creative Ecologist Chris Rockley as she launches the Tidal Rhythms Project. Explore marine specimens and reference photography, generously supplied by Deakin University, and draw directly onto a vintage piano scroll as part of a growing community artwork celebrating our marine environment.
Add your drawing to the community scroll on the day, or take home a numbered scroll to continue drawing throughout the year. These individual scrolls will become part of a major community art installation at the 2028 Upwelling Festival.
All materials supplied.
Suitable for beginners through to experienced artists. No drawing experience required.
This first session forms part of Upwelling Festival 2026 and is one of five creative workshops planned as part of this community project.
