Join Kristy Hussey, Magdalena Dmowska and Steffie Wallace talk about their individual creative practice and artist journey. See their work on display in Bayley Arts current exhibition Seven Creatives, showcasing the talents of seven established Bayside artists.
About the artists
Kristy Hussey is a contemporary sculptor and multi-disciplinary assemblage artist and has exhibited in Paris, Milan, Sydney and Melbourne. Last year Kristy was shortlisted for the prestigious Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize and was a finalist in the Wyndham Art Prize (2023) and the National Emerging Art Prize (2021).
Magdalena Dmowska links abstract painting practices with ceramic forms. She has been a Finalist in multiple art prizes including the Victorian Craft Awards. In 2017 she was announced winner of Manningham Ceramic Art Merit Acquisitive Award. In 2019 she was awarded 5th Premio “Lorenzo il magnifico” Arte Ceramica at XII Florence Biennale in Italy.
Steffie Wallace began her studies at the National Gallery Art School in Melbourne in the 1960s and is an established landscape oil painter. Steffie has won national and international awards, the most recent being the Gagliardi Gallery prize at the 2021 London Art Biennale and in 2022 was selected for the Billilla Arts Residency program, Bayside City Council.
