7 Day Game Jam 2024 Opening Night
Event description
Come along and join the Game Development Society and Digital Screen Society for the opening night of our week-long game jam collaboration! This event is a low-risk and casual game jam open to everyone of all skill levels.
For those of you who are new, a game jam is an event where people get together to create a game from scratch, in a limited amount of time. The game can be digital or physical but must be designed around a theme, which will be announced on the opening night. If you've ever done a 48-hour film competition, this is the game design equivalent to that. While you won't be making anything AAA worthy, by the end of the jam, the goal is to have produced a playable prototype.
5:00 pm - Doors Open
5:15 pm - Introduction and Keynote Presentation
A general welcome to all attending, followed by a keynote presentation on jam tips from GDS and DigiSoc.
5:30 pm - Jam Theme Reveal / #7DayJam Start
5:30 pm onwards - Team Creation / Project Setup / Brainstorming
Members of GDS and DigiSoc will be around to help organise teams and help come up with ideas. Experienced jammers are welcome to do their own thing at this point.
~5:45 pm - Pizza and (non-alcoholic) drinks arrive!
We will only be ordering enough pizza based on the number of tickets, so make sure you grab a ticket so you don't miss out!!
