Prerequisite: Start Sewing with SCRAP, or equivalent knowledge. How to thread a home sewing machine, wind and load a bobbin, and select basic straight and zig-zag stitches.

Sewing Basic Projects: The Apron!

Build on your ability to operate a home sewing machine, learn new skills, and apply them to a new beginner level project, a custom crafters apron! This apron is waist height (no front bib) and has 3 roomy pockets, a drawstring style belt with a sturdy cotton tie, a hanging loop, and a tool loop!

We'll cover:

Translating pattern measurements to fabric
Identifying the “right” vs “wrong” side, and grain direction of fabric
Cutting fabric accurately
A variety of seam treatments and construction methods (Including hemming edges!)
The POWER of PRESSING!
How to add custom sized and placed loops and pockets for your tools.

And combine all of that into a complete project: your custom apron!
Lead by sewing nerd Kate, with SCRAP’s variety of studio sewing machine models. This workshop is a great opportunity to use several styles of different sewing machines before you invest in your own!

For $45, you'll get 3 hours of hands-on instruction!

All tools and materials provided | Ages 16+ (parents must purchase for their children)
Students are welcome to bring their own sewing machines.
