Sewing Basics II: Construction and Patterns - The Tote! With SCRAP!

In this class, students will build on their ability to operate a home sewing machine, learning new skills and applying them to their first project, a custom tote bag! We’ll work with a pattern block, learn to cut fabric accurately, practice a variety of seam treatments and construction methods, discuss the Power of Pressing! and combine all of that into a full project: a custom basic tote bag! By the end of the class, students will know the foundational pattern reading and construction skills to take their sewing to the next level!

Join us to develop new skills, meet other sewists just starting out, and find your sewing machine sea legs!

All tools and materials provided. Prerequisite: Sewing Basics I or equivalent knowledge (how to thread a home sewing machine, basic straight and zig-zag stitches, how to press seams using an iron). Ages 14+.
