Sewing Studio Drop-In: Stuffie Lab! 🪡🧸 | Ages 16+
Stuffie Lab: Sew a New Friend!

Have you ever wanted to make your own stuffed animal, but weren't sure where to start? This Saturday afternoon & evening, drop in and join Kate (she/her) to work on custom, simple 2-sided stuffies, both hand- and machine-sewn!
Mix and match cute, simple, easy-to-modify pattern pieces for bodies, heads, limbs, horns, and tails, and learn simple stuffie-making techniques to make a sweet stuffed companion (photos of available pattern pieces below). Experiment and play with various materials used in stuffie design, various stitch types, embroidery, paint and other hand-done details.
In this drop-in event, participants have the opportunity to:
Work with simple patterns and practice customizing them
Learn about and practice using seam allowance
Learn the "invisible" ladder stitch
Try fabric painting
Try embroidery & applique
Get sewing machine practice
This event is drop-in style and semi-guided, with participants choosing their particular stuffie journey and Kate available to teach pattern tracing and editing, fabric painting, embroidery, and answer any other sewing questions as you bring your custom design to life!
Some hand-sewing experience recommended. Sewing machines available to participants with basic machine experience (i.e. how to operate a machine, do a regular forward stitch and a reverse stitch). All patterns provided, but experienced/independent sewists are welcome to use this time to work on an existing project/pattern.
While our staffers are prepared to offer assistance and advice to all crafters, this is NOT a workshop—meaning, staff cannot total beginners how to operate a sewing machine.
If learning to use a sewing machine is something you're interested in, check out our monthly-recurring Start Sewing With SCRAP: Intro to Home Sewing Machines class!
2-6pm | Ages 16+. Youth age 16+ can attend with or without a guardian. See ticket page for more details.
Masks-friendly environment. All materials & tools provided.
Location: The new SE SCRAP Education Studio! 619 SE 6th Ave 😊
