Sex After Bad Stuff: Weekend Pleasure Education Course (Seattle)
Sex After Bad Stuff Happens:
A weekend-long pleasure education course for anyone who's experienced sexual assault*
(*or other generally awful sex stuff you feel messed up about but aren't sure what to call it)
Do you feel like you’re merely tolerating sex? Not sure how to talk about what you want (or even figure out what that is)? For so many people who’ve had violating sexual experiences, sex may feel fraught, out of control, or unfun. We’re raising the bar from surviving to thriving, helping anyone who’s experienced coercive, assaultive, or bad-but-I-don’t-have-a-word-for-it sexual experiences to create the sex life they want.
This class will cover information and strategies to help you feel more empowered in your sexuality. We’ll be taking a pleasure-based approach, helping participants to build, embody, and celebrate their sexual selves.Topics include:
- Sexual communication
- Keeping focus during sex
- Getting clear on consent and managing the feeling of "maybe"
- Exploring your sexual messaging
- Building and managing desire
- The anatomy of arousal and pleasure
- Sex toys and other enhancements
- Sensation and power play
- Bringing sex-positivity into your everyday life
This is an in-person class to be held at Sunset Hill Community Club in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. The class will be held on the lower floor and is wheelchair-accessible. We will meet 11:00AM-5:00PM each day; ample breaks and time for movement will be built in to both days!
Open to all genders, participants must be 18+
$100-$300 (plus tax). For full scholarships, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Who is this class for?
Anyone who's had a sexual experience that feels violating. It doesn't need to meet any legal definitions. If you're thinking, "Does this count?"...it does.
Do I have to be a certain gender?
No! This course is open to all genders, but all participants must be 18+.
Is this course therapy? Will we work through crisis and trauma?
No. This course is focused on creating the sex life you want to have, not on dealing with acute crisis or trauma.
What happens in the classes?
Lecture, discussion, and activities. You decide your participation level.
Can I just come to 1 or 2 classes?
While participants may miss sessions, the course is only offered a whole.
Will this course be offered online?
At this time, the course is only in-person. It may be online in the future. Classes will be recorded and sent to participants after classes, although the quality of video and ability to participate is compromised!
I can't afford the $300 cost. Is there a way to get a discount?
Sliding scale is offered for those with financial barriers at the $200 and $100 levels. For full scholarships, email email@example.com.
Can I help pay for scholarships?
Yes! Choose "Scholarship Support" at checkout and select how much you'd like to give.
