Clearing confusion: Supporting international students to navigate systems
Event description
International students are required to purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), but what does this cover? How well do international students understand the OSHC policy? What challenges do they experience navigating the Australian health system? What influences their help-seeking behaviour when it comes to sexual and reproductive health?
This FREE workshop invites attendees to hear directly from international students as they share their experiences navigating OSHC and accessing health services in Australia. You will also hear from guest speakers providing insights from their projects working with the international students at Monash University and Swinburne University.
By attending, you will:
- Gain valuable insights into the barriers and challenges faced by international students when seeking health services
- Hear practical strategies to provide more inclusive, empathetic, and culturally appropriate SRH care.
- Have an opportunity to connect with speakers and peers over lunch (provided)
Speakers include:
- International students representatives
- Michelle Li - Triage Nurse, Monash University
- Yuqian He - Community Engagement & Project Officer, Multicultural Health & Support Service
- Manorani Guy - Founder/President, VicWise
