How do race and gender intersect to impact the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds? What are the special considerations when working with CALD women on SRH issues?

This FREE workshop delves into the unique challenges faced by CALD women in achieving sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing. You will hear directly from CALD women as they share their experiences accessing SRH services, along with three guest speakers sharing their insights working with CALD women.

By attending, you will:

Gain insights into the intersectionality of race, gender and culture, understanding how they shape the SRH needs and health outcomes of CALD women.
Hear practical strategies to provide more inclusive, empathetic, and culturally appropriate SRH care to CALD women.
Discover why hepatitis is more prevalent in CALD communities and explore culturally relevant strategies to address prevention and treatment.
Have an opportunity to network with speakers and peers over a lunch (provided).

Who should attend? We welcome anyone interested in the subject, particularly health professionals wanting a deeper understanding of the SRH needs of women from a culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including

Health professionals & service providers from community health services, hospitals, general practice, women's health services, local and state government, and university academics or students.
Professionals in related fields such as gender equity, mental health, and the prevention of violence against women, who wish to expand their understanding of health barriers faced by disadvantaged groups.

Parking and Public Transport
The workshop will be hosted at the Meeting Room 6, Level 2 Realm (next to Eastland Shopping Centre). The nearest parking is at Eastland Shopping Centre, which is free for the first three hours.

Bus: The Ringwood bus interchange is directly opposite the venue. Services include 364, 380, 670, 679, 901 and 906 route.

Train: Ringwood Station is directly opposite the venue. Two train lines operate through Ringwood Station - Belgrave and Lilydale.
