Shabbat Dinner with Rabbi George Mordecai and Daniel Sherrell at Emanuel Synagogue
Event description
Following Shabbat services on Friday 20 June, join Rabbi George Mordecai and leading international climate change strategist, Senior Adviser on Climate and Energy at the Australian Council of Trade Unions, Daniel Sherrell, for a communal Shabbat dinner, where they will engage in a broad-ranging discussion that cuts to the heart of one of the greatest challenges we face as a society.
Where do things stand with climate change—and the movement to fight it? What's the outlook in Australia in the wake of the Federal election? What's the outlook globally in an increasingly unstable world? And, what responsibility do we have as Jews to maintain a liveable planet for all.
In the spirit of an evening dedicated to the environment, we will be enjoying a three-course vegetarian dinner, lovingly prepared by Nora's Kitchen. A small selection of drinks will be available, but we invite you to bring your own alcohol beverages.
If you are in a position to do so, please consider sponsoring a spot for someone in the community who might otherwise miss out. Thank you as always for your generosity. We look forward seeing you there.
