Shadow & Spark
Event description
As we move through deep Winter, we meet both the quiet of shadow and the flicker of inner spark.
Join us for Shadow & Spark, an ecstatic dance journey designed to honour the stillness of the season while gently awakening the fire within.
This is a space to move what’s been resting in your body — the unspoken, the unseen — and to celebrate the spark that always remains, even in the longest nights.
Expect a rich playlist that will guide you inward and then slowly lift you — a journey from the underworld of winter toward the rising light that’s just beginning to return, ending with a live hand pan sound journey.
Arrive: at 3:55 pm for a for a 4:00 pm start
Bring: a water bottle, and a yoga mat.
This dance is an alcohol-free event / LGBTQI friendly / 18+ event
Once the music has begun, we encourage you to keep talking to a minimum so that everyone can enjoy the embodiment!
**Please note, although we are using a church hall, this is a non-religious, non-denominational event.
ABOUT US:
The Canberra Ecstatic Dance Collective monthly dance offering is a safe and supportive space to express, release, and experience joy through movement.
Each dance has a different theme and a different facilitator, BUT every dance will be a safe space to explore movement within a dynamic dance community.
MORE ABOUT THE DANCE:
These dances are lovingly curated to take you on a journey which peaks and brings you gently back down again. The purpose of this dance is to simply let go and let your body move you.
You may find yourself focusing on one part of your body, wanting to connect your body with the floor, or dance with another person (consensually!) You may wish to sit out or lie down and rest. You may feel emotion moving through you.
Whatever is intrinsically and authentically emerging from within is what we are opening up to and creating space for. Uninhibited movement is encouraged, whilst being respectful of others in the space.
