Event description

We are thrilled to host local author Chris Jones, joined in conversation by mystery author and lawyer Vija Kemanis. Chris and Vija will explore the craft of mystery-writing, legal thrillers, and Chris’s newest novel, Shadow Islands. Bring your own questions and curiosity to the event.

There might even be some light snacks to whet your appetite!

About Chris

Chris Jones was born on Long Island and raised on Manhattan Island. He currently splits his time between Hutchinson Island and the Hudson Valley with his wife, Margaret. They have four daughters and three grandchildren. Chris graduated from Iona University and Fordham Law School.

He travelled the world as a partner in an international law firm and as chief international counsel for a large public company. He also served as a consultant to the United Nations Ethics Office and taught Business Law at Hunter College. He has had professional articles published on subjects ranging from the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act to Freedom of Information Laws. Along the way he stowed ideas for a few novels.  

About the Book

About Vija

Award-winning author, dance artist, and lawyer V.S. Kemanis has published six novels of legal suspense and courtroom drama, most recently Power Blind, a Readers' Favorite Award finalist for Best Legal Thriller. Her latest novel, Indelicate Deception, is a family story set in her hometown, Berkeley, California.

Short fiction by Kemanis has appeared widely in magazines and anthologies and is collected in five volumes, including Your Pick: Selected Stories, winner of the Eric Hoffer Award for Best Story Collection. Kemanis is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and former board member of the New York Chapter. Now retired from her legal career, she teaches ballet and contemporary dance in Westchester County studios. Learn more at www.vskemanis.com.
