Shadows and Screens - A Night of Storytelling
Event description
Step into an evening where shadows dance, stories speak, and voices rise.
We open with The Flea a visually stunning and darkly whimsical shadow puppet performance accompanied by live music, crafted and performed by Sam and Melinda Bowker. A tale that draws on satire and symbolism, The Flea asks timeless questions about power, greed, and ambition echoing human truths through puppetry’s poetic lens.
After a short interval with light refreshments, we shift from stage to screen with the Voices of Women 2025 International Short Film & Script Festival. Featuring powerful short films and live script readings, this collection celebrates diverse women's voices from around the globe — raw, lyrical, political, and personal.
In very different forms, both The Flea and the Voices of Women program illuminate how stories can reveal hidden structures, challenge perspectives, and make space for reflection and change.
Together, they invite us to consider:
Whose voices do we hear? Whose stories do we value? And what happens when we truly listen?
