ShakesPeers - Intimacy and Love Scenes
Description
Full Circle Theatre, in collaboration with Nose Creek Players, is delighted to invite you to our February ShakesPeers salon!
This month, we’re turning our attention to intimacy, connection, and Shakespeare’s most compelling love scenes.
Intimacy & Love Scenes is all about demystifying intimacy direction and opening up thoughtful conversation about how love shows up onstage.
Here’s what’s on the table:
Intimacy Direction 101
We’ll kick off the evening with a mini-presentation from our excellent colleague Gillian Klassen, offering an accessible introduction to intimacy direction: what it is, what it isn’t, and why it matters. We’ll talk consent-based practices, boundaries, and how intimacy direction supports both artists and storytelling. No prior experience required.
Shakespeare’s Greatest Love Scenes
After the presentation, we’ll dive into a group discussion exploring some of Shakespeare’s most iconic (and complicated) love scenes. From grand romance to quiet tenderness to messy desire, we’ll unpack what makes these moments work and how we engage with them today.
Cost: Pay-What-You-Can
This event is a casual, community-focused theatre gathering. It’s not a class, an audition, or a workshop, just an evening of conversation, curiosity, and connection. No pressure, no expectations, just thoughtful discussion with like-minded theatre folks.
We encourage you to support Full Circle Theatre and Nose Creek Players by purchasing a pay-what-you-can ticket, but if that’s not in your budget right now, that’s okay! Please join us anyway by reserving a $0 ticket.
Let’s talk love, intimacy, and Shakespeare.
