ShakesPeers - Shrew "Roles in a Bowl" Interactive Reading
Event description
Full Circle Theatre is thrilled to announce the first 2025-2026 offering in our series of Shakespeare inspired community building salons. Shakespeare can be intimidating but we love it and want to give you the opportunity to come, meet like-minded theatre artists, and mess around with some text. It has been such an amazing experience, meeting you all and getting comfy with the bard.
Our final event is a FCT classic - a "Roles in a Bowl" interactive reading of The Taming of the Shrew. This is always our most popular event and y'all have been begging for another one, so we figured why not start the year with it? Plus, we are producing Shrew later this year, so it gives you an opportunity to get familiar with the show.
It's the most fun way to do a readthrough possible! All you have to do is show up at the reading and draw a character name out of a bowl. New characters are drawn each act. You could be reading Petruchio one act and Grumio the next. You won't know until the day!
Note: This is a free community building readthrough. It is not an audition for the company or a directed environment. It is simply an opportunity to read the play and hear it out loud - the way Shakespeare intended! You are also very welcome to attend and not read.
We hope you will consider supporting our venue by buying a beverage or snack at the event, or throwing a tip our way so we can continue to put on these great events, but if that is not in your current budget, we understand. Please RSVP for a free ticket, either way!
