ABORIGINAL TOOLS & TECHNIQUES

2 HOUR WORKSHOP presented by Walgalu Wiradjuri man, artist, storyteller, knowledge-holder and traditional custodian Shane Herrington.  

Get hands-on and learn about traditional Aboriginal tools and techniques including:

  • rope making
  • stone tools
  • dilly bag making
  • BYO Yidaki (Didgeridoo) for a quick lesson



Join Walgalu Wiradjuri man Shane Herrington for an insightful and educational cultural workshop at Franklin Public School, Tumut on Saturday 29 April 9-11am as part of The Bendigo Bank Falling Leaf Festival. The 2 hour Aboriginal Tools & Techniques Workshop will cover the making of traditional stone tools, you can get hands-on with traditional rope and dilly bag making and if you want some tips from a Yidaki (Didgeridoo) pro - Shane's your guy - BYO Didge.

Shane is an accomplished artist, story-teller and traditional knowledge holder. His workshops are peppered with a wealth of information and interesting stories focussed on learning and sharing. A unique opportunity to learn about aspects of local traditional culture

Location: Franklin Public School, Forests Street, TUMUT

Time: 9AM - 11 AM Finishes in time for Smoking Ceremony, Welcome to Country and Official Opening of Falling Leaf Festival at 11.45am in Wynyard St (5 min walk)

Most suited for Ages 12+

Children under 12 must be supervised by an adults. Tickets $20 per person.

What to bring:  Sunscreen, Hat, Camp Chair if required

Bottled water supplied.
