Shannon Barnett Quartet + Tessie Overmyer Trio
Supported by the Goethe-Institut
Experience the cutting-edge brilliance of contemporary jazz in the enchanting stained glassed acoustic splendour of St Stephens Uniting Church.
Bringing her German precision to the stage, in-demand ex-pat Australian trombonist Shannon Barnett and her quartet of European maestros will embark on an electrifying exchange of ideas.
Born and raised in Victoria, Shannon now resides in Cologne where she’s been awarded the WDR Jazz Prize for Improvisation in 2020 and the German Jazz Prize in 2022 for excellence in brass.
If your figure is on the pulse, you’ll be familiar with the name Tessie Overmyer.
Prepare to be blown away by the blazing talent and relentless creativity of her powerhouse trio, exploring daring improvisations, colours, and grooves.
Overmyer is joined by the versatility of bassist and improviser Jacques Emery and the ferocious urgency of master drummer Chloe Kim.
