How does our sense of self form, and how much of our identity is shaped by our genes, by the imprint of our forebears and by our own life experience? In this session three authors follow disparate paths, but find common ground in the process of writing memoir and revealing the soul.
Speakers:
Hilton Koppe: Writer, educator, podcaster, and doctor on Bundjalung Land, Hilton facilitates reflective writing workshops for health professionals and others, exploring his experiences in "One Curious Doctor: A Memoir of Medicine, Migration and Mortality," and presenting globally from Byron Writers Festival to Harvard Medical School.
Sandra Goldbloom Zurbo: Author and editor, Sandra's novel "The Book of Rachel". Sandra founded Dead Set, a pioneering desktop publishing company for book and journal publishers, and worked as a freelance non-fiction editor for forty years. Now residing in central Victoria where she focuses on writing, cooking, and gardening.
MichelleScheibner: TEDx Speaker and author of "Hush," Michelle explores how inherited family trauma influences lives, drawing from 25+ years’ experience as a coach and mentor, and completing training with Mark Wolynn on Inherited Family Trauma.
Debbie Lee (moderator): With over 30 years in publishing, Debbie is MJBW's director, owner of Ginninderra Press and has worked at Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, and UNSW Press. She champions 'indie authors,' convenes the Indie Publishing Forum and Small Press Network conference.
