Shaping Tomorrow's Man with Albert Jamae
Description
Join us at the Murray Bridge Library for an engaging and thought-provoking conversation with South Australian author, performer, and storyteller Albert Jamae.
Albert will introduce his upcoming book Shaping Tomorrow’s Man, offering his considered response to Netflix’s exploration of the “manosphere” and the growing conversations around masculinity and identity. Drawing on nearly 40 years of experience in South Australia’s entertainment industry—including work in television, theatre, radio, and documentary filmmaking—Albert brings a unique and relatable perspective to this important topic.
Many will remember Albert as the former host of Here’s Humphrey, and more recently for his work behind the scenes in production. He has also worked in educational settings, giving him valuable insight into young people and the challenges they face in a rapidly changing world.
In this session, Albert will share key ideas from his book, combining insight, humour, and lived experience to explore what it means to be a man today. He will reflect on the risks of holding onto outdated ideas, the importance of positive mentorship, and how we can better support the next generation. The presentation will be followed by an open Q&A, encouraging honest and inclusive discussion.
This event is ideal for parents, secondary students, educators, youth workers, counsellors, and anyone interested in supporting young people and fostering positive conversations about identity and purpose.
