Share a Plate, Share a Story - Open Mic Night

Have you got a special dish, a story, a song or a poem to share? On 21st May, join Our Race Community and Digital Storytellers for a very casual night of shared food and facilitated story sharing.  

We’ll start the evening with a potluck dinner running 530PM to 7PM. Bring a dish you’ve made that represents you and your family background. Or if you prefer, buy a catered ticket and we’ll arrange a meal for you instead. Or pay what you can and we'll host you for a meal and some fun. 

Once our tummies are satisfied, we’ll turn on the mood lighting for an open mic night (from about 7PM), where anyone is invited to share a story on the theme of courage. 

Please leave your professional work behind and bring your passion project and creative self instead. We want to taste your creations, hear your songs, slam poems or comedy acts — any of the hidden talents you rarely get the space to share. Relationship and connection will be our priority; business networking can be had another time.

Building the digital story for Impact Story Lab Sydney

Impact Story Lab Sydney is an initiative of Digital Storytellers, a place where we are building a community of impact storytellers, and improving our practise of ethical storytelling. 

When you register for a ticket please confirm your consent to have your image captured when you purchase your ticket. Feel free to decline as well, we will ensure your image is not used in future communications about our work at the lab. 

Storytellers -- here's a chance to get the story recorded, and its future use is up to you. 

As part of our work at Impact Story Lab Sydney, we offer anyone who shares a story the chance to have their story professionally recorded at this event and shared back with them privately. After the event, and with permission, the story can be shared online in future.
