Shared Harmonies
Event description
The program will feature the most recent songs by each choir - Kompactus Youth Choir, Canberra and Cantabile, Cooma - with two songs performed in collaboration - .
Kompactus is a youth chamber choir, aimed at
developing the skills of talented singers between
the ages of eighteen and thirty. Founded in 2008
with countertenor David Yardley as director, The
group now performs regularly in Canberra, under
the artistic direction of composer and choral
conductor, Olivia Swift. Kompactus maintains a diverse and versatile
repertoire, drawn from many time periods and
styles stretching as far back as the late medieval
through to modern contemporary music.
Cantabile is a chamber choir formed in 2022, co-directed by Phil Horneman and Tein McDonald, which also has a very wide repertoire from classical to folk and some popular songs. The choir aims to share beautiful music with Cooma residents and visitors, as well as performs recorded concerts for people who are housebound. We reached out to Kompactus Youth Choir for this year's spring concert in a gestsure of friendship through music and to further enrich the cultural life of Cooma.
