Shared Stories of The Coal Loader

In 2023, the Australian Heritage Festival returns with the theme Shared Stories, and we invite you to collaborate to uncover new collective tales of The Coal Loader.

Hear from Owen Evans, an engineer and model builder and see the unveiling of his newly donated scale model of the 1970s ship loader that operated on the wharf.

Discover secrets of the space with Susan Barisic, whose father managed the old coal loading site, to share her unique interactions with the space and staff growing up.

Engage in the heritage of the site, uncover untold histories, and reflect on the stories that shaped the current use.

Visitors are invited to bring own photos, artifacts, and stories to share. Be a part of the shared story. A selection of the stories may be filmed on the night.
